PresidentsNotes

Dear Lovely Newcomers!

We hope you are enjoying a beautiful fall in New England and that your lawns are recovering from our hot, dry summer! Fingers crossed for a mild winter??

We are currently working on our membership directory to be distributed via email to current members. New this year, we hope to include the names of any babysitters in your family whom families with young children might call on. Look for an email soon asking permission to include your contact information in the directory.

We hope you enjoy our November events. And as always, we welcome you to email us with questions and suggestions.

Bunco! (& Left-Right-Center)

MON Nov 7
7:30pm—schmoozing begins
8:15pm
—gameplay begins
Bring: $5 ante for Bunco; $3 for L-R-C (exact change appreciated!); and a beverage or snack to share.
RSVP: email kessacoleman@gmail.com for location details.

About the Games:

Bunco is an entertaining, simple dice game, with no experience required. It’s played in multiple rounds with players alternating turns rolling the dice to match the target number. Whoever wins the most rounds is the overall winner. And because players rotate tables, it is a great way to meet and chat with different people. Left-Right-Center is an even simpler game, faster moving than Bunco, and is played at the end of the evening. Did we mention there’s no experience required?

Help Wanted!

Many hands make light work—and we could use some hands. If you have a little extra time and you enjoy some camaraderie, there are several ways to get involved, both short- and longer-term:

▪ host a coffee ▪ update our website with the latest happenings ▪ host a Bunco or Book Club evening ▪ host or organize a cookbook party ▪ update seasonal “stuff-to-do-in-the-area” flyer ▪ start a walking group ▪ have another idea? let us know! ▪

Email asmithziegler@gmail.com for more information.

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
The unforgettable New York Times best seller begins with the story of two half-sisters, separated by forces beyond their control: one sold into slavery, the other married to a British slaver. Written with tremendous sweep and power, Homegoing traces the generations of family who follow, as their destinies lead them through two continents and three hundred years of history, each life indelibly drawn, as the legacy of slavery is fully revealed in light of the present day.
