HOMES IN THE HEART OF LEXINGTON HOUSE TOUR – 1 June 11am to 5pm

Homes in the Heart of Lexington

A House Tour to Benefit the Lexington Historical Society

Lexington, MA: On Sunday, June 1st, from 11 AM – 5 PM, the Lexington Historical Society will sponsor its sixth Lexington house tour, Homes in the Heart of Lexington. This remarkable house tour includes homes within walking distance of Lexington Center and showcases over 200 years of residential change. Included are a dozen varied homes from the first brick house built in Lexington, to mid-19th Century summer estates developed as a result of the arrival of the railroad, to a contemporary condominium for empty-nesters.

“The Historical Society house tours are a great way to explore your community and its beautiful homes while supporting the work of the Society,” says Susan Bennett, Executive Director of the Lexington Historical Society. “This year, the proceeds of Homes in the Heart of Lexington will be dedicated to the Buckman Tavern restoration – an historic jewel right in the center of our town. Please join us for a day in the wonderful neighborhoods within strolling distance of the heart of our community.”

Co-chair of Homes in the Heart of Lexington, Anne Lee, explains, "This tour offers a wonderful opportunity to peek behind the doors of a gracious 19th Century summer cottage, to explore a house that was moved across town, to marvel at a complete down-to-the-brass-tacks renovation, and to enjoy the creative flair of an artist’s decor. Come discover our town!"

The Lexington Depot will serve as tour headquarters and will open at 10 AM for pick up of previously reserved tickets and for day of tour sales. There is convenient free parking in the municipal lot behind the building. Restrooms and coffee will be available in the Depot.

Tickets are $20 for members/$25 for non-members when purchased in advance. Tickets can be ordered at the Depot or Buckman Tavern daily from 10 AM – 4 PM. They can also be ordered online at www.lexingtonhistory.org or by calling 781-862-1703. Day of tour tickets are $25 for members/$30 for non-members and can be purchased at the Depot, 13 Depot Square, Lexington. For more information please contact the Lexington Historical Society office at 781-862-1703.
