For your reading pleasure, we are repeating our “who’s who” list in the yellow sidebar, The LNC Board: Who We Are?, at the end of this newsletter.
Please enjoy our April events. And as always, we welcome you to email us with questions and suggestions.

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
If you’ve ever wondered what your dog is thinking, Stein’s third novel offers an answer. Enzo is a lab terrier mix plucked from a farm outside Seattle to ride shotgun with race car driver Denny Swift as he pursues success on the track and off. Denny meets and marries Eve, has a daughter, Zoë, and risks his savings and his life to make it on the professional racing circuit. Enzo, frustrated by his inability to speak and his lack of opposable thumbs, watches Denny’s old racing videos, coins koanlike aphorisms that apply to both driving and life, and hopes for the day when his life as a dog will be over and he can be reborn a man. When Denny hits an extended rough patch, Enzo remains his most steadfast if silent supporter. Enzo is a reliable companion and a likable enough narrator, though the string of Denny’s bad luck stories strains believability. Much like Denny, however, Stein is able to salvage some dignity from the over-the-top drama. .
WED April 12 @ 12:00pm

Bunco! (& Left-Right-Center)
TUES April 25
Bring: $5 ante for Bunco; $3 for L-R-C (exact change appreciated!); and a beverage or snack to share.
RSVP: email Peg Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org for location details.
About the Games:
Bunco is an entertaining, simple dice game, with no experience required. It’s played in multiple rounds with players alternating turns rolling the dice to match the target number. Whoever wins the most rounds is the overall winner. And because players rotate tables, it is a great way to meet and chat with different people. Left-Right-Center is an even simpler game, faster moving than Bunco, and is played at the end of the evening. Did we mention there’s no experience required?
THURS April 27 @ 6:30p @ Lexington Venue Theater, 1794 Mass. Ave, Lexington center. Join us for an evening at our local cinema—Lexington Venue—a longtime treasure of our downtown.
Film: Their Finest, a new British drama receiving rave reviews. It’s about a British film crew that attempts to boost morale during World War II by making a propaganda film after the Blitzkrieg.
Post-movie: Option to walk to Il Casale for drinks.
