PresidentsNotes

Dear Lovely Newcomers!

We have had a great start to our season with terrific turnouts to our September events! We always love this time of year when we meet brand new members and reconnect with existing ones.

If you have joined within the last year, please attend our NEW Newcomer Reception on SAT Oct 1. It’s a wonderful way for the LNC board to get to know our newest members. All of our newbies should have received an Evite invitation. If you did not, please email our membership chair at elizabeth.murray1@comcast.net.

We hope you enjoy our October events. And as always, we welcome you to email us with questions and suggestions.

The Girls By Emma Cline
Northern California, during the violent end of the 1960s. At the start of summer, a lonely and thoughtful teen, Evie Boyd, sees a group of girls in the park, and is immediately caught by their freedom, their careless dress, their dangerous aura of abandon. Soon, Evie is fascinated with Suzanne, a mesmerizing older girl, and is drawn into the circle of a soon-to-be infamous cult and the man who is its charismatic leader. Hidden in the hills, their ranch is eerie and run down, but to Evie, it is exotic, thrilling—a place where she feels desperate to be accepted. As her obsession with Suzanne intensifies, Evie does not realize she is coming closer and closer to unthinkable violence.

Help Wanted!

Many hands make light work—and we could use some hands. If you have a little extra time and you enjoy some camaraderie, there are several ways to get involved, both short- and longer-term:

▪ host a coffee ▪ update our website with the latest happenings ▪ host a Bunco or Book Club evening ▪ host or organize a cookbook party ▪ update seasonal “stuff-to-do-in-the-area” flyer ▪ start a walking group ▪ have another idea? let us know! ▪

Email asmithziegler@gmail.com for more information.

Special Thank-you

Sheila Tweeddale !

Bunco! (& Left-Right-Center)

THURS Oct 20
7:30pm—schmoozing begins
8:00pm
—gameplay begins
Bring: $5 ante for Bunco; $3 for L-R-C (exact change appreciated!); and a beverage or snack to share.
RSVP: email kessacoleman@gmail.com for location details.

About the Games:

Bunco is an entertaining, simple dice game, with no experience required. It’s played in multiple rounds with players alternating turns rolling the dice to match the target number. Whoever wins the most rounds is the overall winner. And because players rotate tables, it is a great way to meet and chat with different people. Left-Right-Center is an even simpler game, faster moving than Bunco, and is played at the end of the evening. Did we mention there’s no experience required?
