PresidentsNotes

Dear Lovely Newcomers!

Happy November everyone. Despite the Thanksgiving Holiday this month, we managed to squeeze in a few special outings along with our regular events. Check out our museum tour on Nov 3 and our Barre class on Nov 30.

Fun Fact: Did you know that once a newcomer always a newcomer? In other words, once you join the club, you can stay as long as you like. Some of us have been here for over five years!

Please enjoy our November events. And as always, we welcome you to email us with questions and suggestions.

Book ClubThis is Where I Leave You (by Jonathan Tropper)

THURS Nov 9 @ 7:30 pm
Host: Peg Smith
RSVP: email suemstapleton@gmail.com for location details.

Tropper writes compulsively readable, laugh-out-loud funny novels, and his fifth book, This Is Where I Leave You, is his best yet. Judd Foxman is oscillating between a sea of self-pity and a “snake pit of fury and resentment” in the aftermath of the explosion of his marriage, which ended “the way these things do: with paramedics and cheesecake.” Simultaneously hilarious and hopeful, This Is Where I Leave You is as much about a family’s reckoning as it is about one man’s attempt to get it together.

Lunch Bunch

TUES Nov 14 @12:00pm @ Sichuan Garden, 2 Alfred Street, Woburn

With a 4-start Yelp review, Sichuan Garden offers an array of authentic Sichuan dishes and libations from it’s well known bar.

RSVP: Email Pam Richter pamrichter7@gmail.com and indicate whether you would like to carpool.

Coffee Talk

WED Nov 15 @ 10:00am

Host: Cynthia Brody. Plenty of street parking available.

Start your day with a smile. Chat with friends while enjoying coffee and a nibble.

No RSVP: Just drop in!
Questions: Contact Viki Deardorff, milwaukeemeow@yahoo.com for location details.

Bunco (& Left-Right-Center)

THURS Nov 16 @ 7:30pm
Bring: $5 ante for Bunco; $3 for L-R-C (exact change appreciated!); and a beverage or snack to share.
RSVP: email Kessa Glisic, kessaglisic@gmail.com, for location details.

About the Games: Bunco is an entertaining, simple dice game, with no experience required. It’s played in multiple rounds with players alternating turns rolling the dice to match the target number. Whoever wins the most rounds is the overall winner. And because players rotate tables, it is a great way to meet and chat with different people. Left-Right-Center is an even simpler game, faster moving than Bunco, and is played at the end of the evening. Did we mention there’s no experience required?

Men’s Pub Night

WED Nov 29, 7:00pm-whenever @ Via Lago, Lexington Center

Terrific turnout last time at Via Lago! So join us again this month, 99 years after prohibition began with the first US legislation banning sale of beverages with an alcohol content higher than 1.28%. Not even a session beer!

Send indications of interest, which are helpful when making arrangements with Via Lago, to normrichter@comcast.net. Look forward to seeing you then!

Barre3 Fitness Class & Social!

THURS Nov 30 @ 8pm @ Barre3, 158 Great Road, Bedford (near Whole Foods in the Bedford Marketplace shopping complex)
8:15pm: class begins
9:15pm: after-class refreshments and schmoozing

Join us for a fun and free Barre3 class (just for LNC members!) followed by well deserved drinks and healthy snacks. Barre3 is functional training with a twist. Rooted in three fitness disciplines—ballet barre, pilates and yoga—barre3 workouts will have you feeling strong and balanced inside and out.

Parking: Plenty of free parking in front of and behind the studio.
Attire: Stretchy, yoga-like attire to move freely in a variety of postures. Barefoot or grippy socks. Props and small towels provided.
