Summer Newsletter

A few words from the LNN co-presidents:

As this LNN season comes to a close we want to thank everyone for another amazing year, especially our super-dedicated volunteer board.  They ensured LNN ran smoothly by taking care of administrative tasks like signing up new members, paying bills, maintaining the website and ensured members had lots of fun by organizing parties, bunco, book club, walking group, lunch bunch, escapes, and much more.  A special thanks to our outgoing board members for all of their years of service:  Judi Riveness, Kessa Glisic, Nassma Halaseh Matalka, Lana Bastianutti, Lesley Segal and Deb Zucker.  You will all be missed on the board, but hope to keep seeing you at LNN events!

Hope to see you at Saturday’s “Food From Across The World” party as well as the other June events!  Look for our mid-August newsletter for a list of fall events.  Have a happy and healthy summer.  See you in September!

Kind regards,
Pam and Katie (co-presidents)

About the Games: Bunco is an entertaining, simple dice game, with no experience requiredIt’s played in multiple rounds with players alternating turns rolling the dice to match the target number. Whoever wins the most rounds is the overall winner. And because players rotate tables, it is a great way to meet and chat with different people. Left-Right-Center is an even simpler game, faster moving than Bunco, and is played at the end of the evening. Did we mention there’s no experience required?

Book Club
Thursday, June 13 at 7:30pm

The Arrangement by Sarah Dunn is a hilarious and emotionally charged bestselling novel about a couple who embark on an open marriage. Lucy and Owen, ambitious, thoroughly-therapized New Yorkers, have taken the plunge, trading in their crazy life in the city for a bucolic Hudson Valley exurb. When friends at a wine-soaked dinner party reveal they’ve made their marriage open, sensible Lucy balks. There’s a part of her, though – the part that worries she’s become too comfortable being invisible-that’s intrigued. Why not try a short marital experiment?

Host: Netice Dokmecioglu

Members are kindly asked to bring a bottle of wine or an appetizer to share.

RSVP to Priya at priyanpatel@yahoo.com

Several members have expressed interest in meeting up with fellow LNN members over the summer for various events/activities such as movie night at Lexington Venue, concerts at Hastings Park, meeting up at a playground with the kids, a round of tennis at the community courts, taking a hike, etc.
To facilitate this we’ve organized a Google Group.  If you are interested, here’s how to participate:

1.  Email lexingtonma.newcomers@gmail.com to be added to the “LNN Summer” Google Group.
2.  You will receive a confirmation email that you have been added to the group.
3.  When you feel like organizing an activity, send an email to the group with the event date and a short description (i.e. 7/7 Willard Woods hike).  Write a further description in the body of the email including your personal email or phone #, then people can contact you personally if they are interested.

Further details will be sent once you sign-up, but this should give you an idea of how it will work. Please email lexingtonma.newcomers@gmail.com if you have any questions.
