April 2023 Newsletter

Hello Neighbors & Newcomers,

Looking out the window today, we are certainly hoping the old adage “April showers bring May flowers” will prove accurate. In any case, we have many great activities to offer you this month! We loved to see so many of you at our March events, including a wonderful evening last night at our Spring Gathering.

We also have some board positions opening up for next season, so please fill out our interest indicator to express interest and learn more! You can also always reach out via email if you’re interested in getting more involved. We have so much fun as a board and would love to have others join us.

You can also always check the Lexington Neighbors & Newcomers Members Facebook group and our Instagram to get the latest updates on our activities.

Superfood Smoothie Workshop

Wednesday, April 5 @ 7pm

Join Catherine Walter and learn a superfood smoothie formula that you can personalize and use to kickstart your mornings and boost your health!

Do you rush through a high-carb breakfast or skip it all together, sustaining on a quick coffee fix on busy mornings? This spells trouble for your system, causing imbalanced blood sugar, cravings, fatigue, irritability, that afternoon slump and contributes to excess pounds. Smoothies can be a healthy, quick alternative but where do you start?

Catherine Walter is a new LNN member and National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach.

Time: 7-8:30pm

Where: Address will shared after sign up.

This will be a fun event in our own private room with amazing service and delicious food.

The Bancroft is a modern American steakhouse and craft cocktail lounge which has been named one of the top 31 steakhouses in America. Edgy and urban, The Bancroft is an exciting spot to socialize, with a service style that is warm and attentive. As a locally owned restaurant group, the Webber family seeks to provide gathering places that are a source of pride for the community.

Book Club

Thursday, April 13 @ 7pm

The first Book Club of Spring is here! Let’s get together to review April’s selection, “The Girl with the Seven Names: A North Korean Defector’s Story” by Hyeonseo Lee, on Thursday April 13th.

An extraordinary insight into life under one of the world’s most ruthless and secretive dictatorships – and the story of one woman’s terrifying struggle to avoid capture/repatriation and guide her family to freedom.

This is the unique story not only of Hyeonseo’s escape from the darkness into the light, but also of her coming of age, education and the resolve she found to rebuild her life – not once, but twice – first in China, then in South Korea. Strong, brave and eloquent, this memoir is a triumph of her remarkable spirit.

RSVP by April 12th to lexnnbookclub@gmail.com. On the morning of April 13th, we will email the time of the meeting and the address of our host to all attendees. Please bring a drink of your choice and/or snacks to share.
