Hello Neighbors & Newcomers,
The Lads and Ladies had a great time in October, and many members also enjoyed a waterfall hike & chocolates and another excellent book club discussion.
We are so excited to see both new and familiar faces back out again and are looking forward to our next month of fun events (see below). We look forward to seeing you!
We always welcome your ideas and feedback. Any questions or comments, feel free to email us at lncexecs@lexington-newcomers.org or post ideas/thoughts to the Lexington Neighbors & Newcomers Members Facebook group.
Kindly,
Your Newcomers & Neighbors Board
Upcoming Events
Book Club
Wednesday, November 10 at 7pm
Join us for wine, snacks and a friendly conversation of this month’s book club selection, Yellow Wife by Sadeqa Johnson, on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021.
This historically inspired novel follows the life of Pheby Delores Brown, an enslaved woman forced to barter love and freedom while living in the most infamous slave jail in Virginia.
Pheby is promised freedom on her eighteenth birthday, but instead of the free life she envisioned for herself, she is sent away from the plantation where she was born to the infamous Devil’s Half Acre, a slave jail in Richmond, Virginia, where enslaved people face the most cruel of treatments. To survive, Pheby will have to outwit the Jailer while sacrificing much in the process.
RSVP by November 8th to lexnnbookclub@gmail.com. Once you RSVP, we will send you the address of our host home before the meeting.
